Lorraine Dupree
Executive Director
Queensland Youth Housing Coalition
Lorraine Dupree is Queensland Youth Housing Coalition’s Executive Director. Her professional background spans the media and social services sector. Over the past 30 years she has focused her work on children, young people and families. She managed a youth service for over a decade, then held policy, research, and project management roles. Lorraine is passionate about addressing poverty and abuse of power in our society. Given childhood poverty and domestic and family violence are leading trajectories to homelessness, addressing poverty, abuse and homelessness early in a child or young person’s life is essential. Lorraine’s 2004 thesis was a critique of case management and a shout out to the importance of relational practice in working with young people - which is also essential for positive organisational culture and staff wellbeing. She believes that addressing power imbalances and inequities is the key to a more just and inclusive society. It is also fiscally and socially responsible.
