Council to Homeless Persons
Vicky is a powerful advocate for all women and children who have experienced or are currently experiencing homelessness and domestic violence. Since 2011 Vicky has been a valuable PESP member for Council to Homeless Persons who are the Peak Bodies of the Homelessness sector in Victoria.
Vicky was recruited to her role as a team member of the Council to Homeless Persons Peer Education and Support Program (PESP) in February 2011.
She went on to successfully graduate from the program in December 2012 and is now a valued Graduate PESP member. Having made it her passion to help others, Vicky is an accomplished public speaker and mentor and has worked on a range of advisory committees including The City of Melbourne Homelessness Advisory Committee where she overseen many projects that aimed to raise awareness in working towards ending homelessness.
Vicky is also on the Project Advisory group for Askizzy and been part of the development of Askizzy since it first came to fruition in 2014.
Alongside her advocacy work, Vicky also teaches the Diploma of Community Services where she can connect with a range of students from varying backgrounds, including international students to prepare them for their roles in the community sector.
Having also been appointed a coveted position with the Legal Aid and Magistrates Courts of Victoria, Vicky was a valuable consultant on the learning and development workshop, The Family Violence Framework where she was able to assist in the implementation of eLearning that lawyers and all staff from the Justice system will take up to have a better understanding of Women and Children who are escaping domestic violence who are going through the justice system. Vicky is also in a video of module two short course which will be available for all Legal aid, Courts and private sector Lawyers, staff, and Magistrates as well as the Judicial college
Vicky’s lifelong dedication has inspired her to become an author and write her own book which has become a valuable resource within the community sector. Titled: A-Z Handbook – Community Services: Working with vulnerable people in our society.
